Whether you refer to this as your business strategy, 3-5 year plan, business plan or something else, the bottom line is, you need a plan! As the adage goes… ‘Failing to plan is planning to Fail! Your business plans need to be living documents that are referred to regularly, measured against and adjusted according to trending performance and the market.
The basis of any business plan is ‘starting with the end in mind’, giving you and your team a picture of what & where you want the organization to be in a given time frame in the future. The next step is to break it down into sizeable yearly, quarterly, and monthly goals & objectives. The only way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time.
Once you have developed a plan with milestones, measures, contingencies and so on, it’s important to communicate it to everyone in the organization and your key stakeholders, after all, your staff are the ones that will need to deliver it and your stakeholders are the ones that are going to be at the pointy end receiving what it is you’re going to deliver. Every team member needs to have key objectives & measurable KPI’s that are aligned & support the business plan.
Your business plan does not need to be convoluted or complicated, but you do need to have one if you’re going to achieve what you set out to achieve.
Business planning and employee engagement are just two elements that I can help you and your organization with. Feel free to give me a call or drop me an email to set up a no-obligation initial meeting and discuss how you can make your business go from good to great!
